When I was little I always thought life was easy,
I thought boys had cooties,
That you didn’t have to work, that you just had money,
That life was easy, no drama, no nothing.
Then I got older, started liking guys,
Got into relationships,
I knew the meaning of life,
I knew you had to work,
I knew there will always be drama,
I knew guys didn’t have cooties.
As we grow up,
Your best friend becomes your worst enemy,
Lollipops turn into blunts,
Innocent ones turn into sluts,
Homework goes in the trash,
Cell phones are used in class,
Time out becomes suspension,
Soda becomes vodka,
Kisses turn into sex,
We don’t talk on the phone anymore,
We just text.
Sometimes I want to go back to a kid,
Where in school we took naps,
We didn’t have drama,
Didn’t have to worry about boys,
Or girls competing to look better.
